The Queenstown Ice Arena is a safe environment for everyone, including all guests, users and staff. To ensure you have the best experience possible, please review the following information regarding our arena environment and special effects.
LIGHTS & SOUND
Please be advised that our skating sessions frequently feature strobe lighting, high-intensity colored lights, and loud music. Photosensitive Epilepsy: These effects may trigger discomfort or seizures for individuals with photosensitive epilepsy.
Sensory Sensitivities: Guests with sensory processing sensitivities should be aware that the environment is high-energy and immersive.
SNOW MACHINE
It’s always snowing the Queenstown Ice Arena! Please be aware that a Snow Effect Machine is used periodically throughout Public Skating Sessions. We use professional-grade snow machines over the ice. The fluid used is water-based, non-toxic, and industry-standard for indoor ice skating entertainment venues.
While this fluid is categorized as safe for most textiles, it is not recommended for delicate fabrics, specifically silk. The Queenstown Ice Arena accepts no liability for any damage to sensitive garments worn during sessions.
The fluid is categorized as safe for skin contact, it may cause mild irritation for individuals with specific chemical sensitivities or allergies. Please speak to staff if you have any concerns.
ICE SPORTS OPERATING
The Queenstown Ice Arena prioritizes the safety of all guests; however, ice hockey is a fast-paced sport with inherent risks.
Please be aware that pucks and equipment may occasionally leave the field of play and enter spectator areas at high speeds. Spectators are advised to remain alert and keep their eyes on the puck at all times during warm-ups and gameplay. While protective netting is in place in designated high-risk zones, it does not eliminate all risks.
By entering the arena during a hockey event, guests assume all risks and danger incidental to the game of ice hockey, including the danger of being injured by flying pucks or other objects.
For the safety and enjoyment of all patrons the following conditions and rules apply:
All skaters and spectators in the Arena acknowledge that they do so at their own risk
We recommend the use of helmets at all times – we have a selection free of charge
Only skates can be worn on the ice – No Shoes at anytime
No speed skating or dangerous manoeuvres
No digging holes in the ice or damaging signage on the boards
Please keep your belongings safe. The Arena is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Ice Sleds, Penguins and Seals are to be treated with care and are for children only!
No carrying of small children on the ice
No food or drink on the ice surface
Offensive and Abusive language will not be tolerated
Do not wear skates outside the arena or on the bleachers
Figure skaters should practice in the middle of the ice surface – no raised blades.
We ask that all skaters be courteous and respectful of all patrons. Patrons disobeying these rules may be asked to leave the arena without a refund. Arena staff will enforce the above rules for your safety and enjoyment.
